TÜMAD applies its own principles while adhering to the EBRD Performance Requirement 4: Community Health, Safety, and Security Requirements in its activities.

Community Health and Safety

Key requirements include: identifying and assessing risks and adverse impacts to communities potentially affected by projects; developing proportionate protection, prevention, and mitigation measures appropriate to the stage, size, and nature of the project; collaborating effectively with relevant authorities and other stakeholders on mitigation measures and plans; informing stakeholders about its roles and responsibilities; and managing health, safety, and security risks in auxiliary facilities such as construction, commissioning, operation processes, transportation routes, and energy and water transmission lines.

To mitigate community health, safety, and security risks that may arise directly or indirectly as a result of projects:

  • Changes in traffic density affecting other road users;
  • Informing stakeholders about the use of chemicals;
  • Identifying environmental impacts with stakeholder participation and transparently and accountably monitoring measures to reduce these impacts;
  • Establishing measures to prevent epidemic diseases that may affect community health, either originating from the mine site or external sources affecting the mine site.

In this context, the Community Health and Safety Management Plan (TMD_EYS_PLN.006) has been created.
